Mieke Vogels (Mieke 'Birds') caricature

Mieke Vogels (Mieke 'Birds' in English) was a Flemish-Belgian politician of the environmental party.
Very different from the cliché of the old politicians in stiff gray suits and ties.

I first tried to make a good looking caricature, then I looked for a suitable pose...

Then I turned my attention to the construction of the bike - not as simple as you might think - … and I continued working on her pose and her clothes…

Then the background - and a lot of birds! ... First sketchy ... and then more precisely ...

When the drawing was finished I made a quick color test in colored pencil ...

And FINALLY the painting with gouache on A4 Steinbach paper 250gr/m².

This caricature was requested by the children's magazine 'Klap'.
